While climbing Mt. Colden in July 2020, Julie slipped and grabbed a root that didn’t hold her. The tug was so strong it fractured her shoulder. The landing fractured her right foot. She went from training for her first “century” bike ride to not being able to walk or move pain-free. She is an occupational therapist and she knew how much work was ahead. The light at the end of the tunnel seemed so far away.
Julie Says: “I am incredibly motivated to gain motion back. I love the functional approach that Mike and Rachele brought to my treatment. I am now back on my bike training and can use my right arm fully without thinking about it. I got new hiking boots for Christmas and plan to climb Mt. Colden, but this time to the top! I truly feel like a part of the family at Peak!”
Mike Says: “Julie started off in tough shape. Neck, shoulder, arm, and ankle pain plus tingling into her fingers, huge motion loss, and weakness. But Julie is one tough cookie! At every session, her cheerful smile came with monster dedication, unrelenting effort, and trust in the process. It’s awesome watching Julie get her life back. From simple day-to-day things to going back to work and now cycling again, it’s great seeing that smile on her face as she accomplishes new things each week. Watch out Mt. Colden… she’s coming back! Congrats Julie!”
If you catch Julie in the clinic, make sure to congratulate her!
Julie has chosen The Ronald McDonald House for the charitable donation we’re doing in her honor!
