Rachel has had a goal of running a 1/2 marathon in all 52 states. In February 2020, while running her own 1/2 marathon on the Erie Canal. She tweaked her knee about 6 miles in, as it was the first time she had run on packed snow. She iced and tried to let it heal naturally but finally sought out an orthopedic doctor. Her appointment was scheduled for the middle of March 2020 but was not able to attend because the world was shutdown due to the pandemic. After several months of laying off from activity due to other health complications, Rachel started to exercise only to have lingering knee issues. After multiple orthopedic appointments, and a round of PT, with minimal success, it was recommended that she try Peak PT.
Rachel says: “From the moment I walked in the door. The entire team was warm and welcoming. Allison spent over an hour identifying my issues. Coming to Peak allowed me to avoid surgery, solve the root causes of my pain, and have a toolkit for how I can continue to stretch and strength train to avoid future injuries. I am back to being active and enjoying the outdoor activities that I love! This month I will run the Flying Pig 1/2 Marathon in Ohio, checking off my 20th state.”
Allison says: “Rachel has big goals. She has hiked Mt Kilimanjaro as well as many trails in the Finger Lakes area. She was very motivated to get back to running and hiking. Her motivation was unparalleled. Whatever I told her to do, she did it exceptionally well. She never wavered from the plan, even when the plan took 9 months to ramp up! She is now back to where she belongs…outdoors being active. I’m so proud of her dedication. You are awesome!”
Rachel chose the Bethany House as her charity. A $50 donation has been made to the Bethany House in honor of Rachel’s accomplishments here at Peak!
Way to go Rachel!!
