Carole tripped on a tree root while hiking in July 2023. Somewhere in the process, she felt her knee twist and the pain began. Her meniscus was torn, and her knee locked and wouldn’t straighten all the way. This made walking and getting up from a chair nearly impossible.
Carole says: “I was determined to do whatever it took, no matter how much work to avoid surgery, and still get better! When I came to Peak, I was in non-stop pain when walking. I couldn’t go downstairs, cross my legs without pain, kneel or get up off the floor. Now I am looking forward to sitting on the floor cross-legged with my students and going to Acadia National Park to hike with my husband!”
Karen says: “Carole came in with an angry knee that had limited motion and limited ability to function, but she was extremely motivated. She slowly stretched her knee until it was straight, and she was able to walk without pain. Over time she began strengthening it and even to exercise into quick movements, and agility patterns. Finally, she was able to climb, hike and reach all of her goals. She never gave up and continued with her exercises even during the difficult times at home. Her discipline was above and beyond! Way to go Carole… Your crushed it.”
Carole chose the CASA of Rochester/Monroe as her charity. A $50 donation has been made to CASA in honor of Carole’s accomplishments here at Peak.
Way to go Carole!!
