Physical Therapist / Patients Account Representative

Experience

Karen graduated 30 years ago with a degree in Physical Therapy from University of Buffalo. She also has an Athletic Training degree from SUNY Cortland, and a Masters in Athletic Training from SUNY Buffalo. She has attended many continuing education courses over the years including four functional training courses through The Gary Grey Institute, four McKenzie lumbar/cervical courses, women’s health issues, orthopedic/sports medicine seminars and, most recently, four geriatric orthopedic courses focusing on injuries specific to that population and fall prevention.

In the 12 years that Peak Performance has been open, Karen has helped out tremendously with billing, patient data intake and entry, payments and collections in addition to patient care.

Personal Info

Karen has been married to Mike Napierala for more than 25 years. They have four children: Jordan, Kyle, Mandi, and Henry. Kyle is a student at Ohio University studying Business and Sports Marketing. Mandi is at College of Charleston in South Carolina, playing Division I volleyball and studying communications.

Jordan graduated from Alfred State in Construction/Carpentry and lives in South Carolina with his wife, Amy. Henry is currently employed at The Legacy in Brighton and has recently been promoted to sous chef, which he is enjoying very much.

Karen’s jobs outside of Peak Performance include: bleacher sitting, running interference, culinary specialist, transportation analysis and resolution, truth investigation, correctional enforcement (all under the heading of being a mom) and liaison to the owner. In addition to being a mom and working at Peak she enjoys working out, cross country skiing, hiking, Bible study, scrapbooking and living vicariously through her kids’ sports. Karen also volunteers for the PTA. She recently completed “Insanity” programs and is looking for the next challenge.

Motivation

“Each season of life brings motivation and new demands at home and work. No matter what the demands, my motivation remains the same, to serve my Lord Jesus Christ in whatever capacity he has chosen for me. I am fortunate that my present situation allows me the freedom to serve my patients and the practice full time.”
