Alyssa tore her ACL during a lacrosse practice back in May 2022. To get a jump on things, she began strengthening her muscles before surgery and had good success. After surgery she had hoped to start off stronger, but didn’t realize how difficult it would be or how uncomfortable it was to make her quad work and get her motion back.
Alyssa says: “I couldn’t believe that this knee surgery could have such a mental and physical impact on me. I felt defeated when I had to start over in PT. I was in pain every visit for a while. Allison encouraged me to do better and work hard! It’s now September 2023 and I’m back to doing what I felt like was impossible a year ago. I’m happy my journey is over but I’ll miss my Wednesday visits at Peak! Thanks Allison for sticking with me!”
Allison says: “ACL surgeries are so common that we sometimes forget how difficult and disruptive they can be. Alyssa was unusually plagued with severe pain and quad weakness for months. She was ready to give up because it was just so hard. She persevered and after six months, began to see real progress. Now she has gone from tears to cheers!! She is running, jumping, working as a server, and really enjoying going to the gym! So proud of you girl!!”
